Covid documentary photography project.

I am currently in the process of moving this project over from my previous site. Stay tuned; many more stories will make their way to this page shortly!

Covid: A collection of images taken of those directly affected by Covid-19 or its economic repercussions.

Media: Time Out Magazine / Good Beer Hunting long - short / Edible East Bay / East Bay Times

All images taken between March and May of 2020. Copyright Clara Rice Photography. Please contact me for personal, commercial, or editorial use. This is a pared down version of a longer documentary story, which will have its time and place once this is all a more distant memory.

April 2: Until March, Cosecha had constant long lines & a new location in the works. Once the restrictions hit they tried a few days of takeout and then shut down operations. Among other things, owner Dominica was worried about all of the “abuelas” that she lovingly employs.

Gastboards-06.jpg

April 12: Roberto of Gastboards is a true artisan, making stunning work out of wood that is often reclaimed and low-waste. Without craft shows, stories, galleries, and clients with disposable income, there’s not much of market these days. Roberto is a realist, and a refreshing conversationalist about the adaptations that artists like ourselves will have to incorporate in order to survive the times.

March 25 // Dom’s spirits were high despite the obvious lack of stand-up opportunities in the wake of Covid. She tried Zoom, and it went... okay. My favorite part about this portrait is that Dom went back inside to change out of her work-from-home clothes, and came back out in the same exact outfit. Acting like we're getting dressed just isn't what's up right now.
