Remember early 2020? It was a strange time. Freelance work went poof, grocery workers were heroes, human interaction became a calculated risk. Kindergarteners went to class on Zoom. I even became a babysitter for a few months. And due to restlessness or curiosity or yearning for human interaction, I set out with my camera to document all sorts of humans.

Many restaurants, some doctors and nurses, dry cleaners turned face mask producers, the mayor of Oakland. Farmers markets, artists, businesses in my town, my immediate neighbors. I received some flak for venturing out of my bubble and safely becoming part of the story. I am so, so glad to have made this work, and four years later it already looks so foreign. An endless thank you to all of my subjects as we all figured it out together.
